Redhill take chairing role at TUC Safety Conference |

| Redhill Analysts, part of Silverdell Plc Group supported the South Yorkshire and Humberside TUC Safety Forum about asbestos held at Sheffield Cathedral Conference Centre in April.
The aim was to provide delegates with a better understanding of current and future issues when advising union members as to the best way to manage asbestos in schools and was attended by in excess of 80 delegates. The subjects debated included: *Managing asbestos from the Union’s perspective *Interpreting the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006. The role of the Coroner Mesothelioma from a Health perspective, the treatments available and the role of Mesolthelioma teams. Two workshops were run simultaneously to assist union representatives and shop stewards understand more about the implications of asbestos. Workshop 1: Hosted by a leading legal firm discussed the issues relating to building an asbestos claim, the liability issues, common problems, and the implications of the recent Pleural Plaques decision. SAREG ( Sheffield and Rotherham Asbestos Group)also gave details about their work as a local information and advice service for residents directly or indirectly affected by asbestos related diseases. Workshop 2: Chaired by Robert Blackburn of Redhill Analysts and run in conjunction with the local HSE inspector gave delegates a better understanding of Where Asbestos may be found, what it is, and practical guidance on how to deal with it pro-actively. Issues such as compliance, best practice in management systems, types of building structure, logging of information and managing refurbishments were debated.
